I have been wearing my hair very short (1/2 to 3/4 inches) for several years. I go to a barber to have it shaped/faded about once per month. But my mixed gray hair looked dry without that sassy look. Combing through it caused it to break off. I have soft fine hair that is thinning with age (I’m 64) so I did not want anything harsh. I leave the texturizer on for the minimum recommended time for fine hair. The curl and texture of my hair is changed just enough so the hair has a relaxed curl and feels really soft. I use the Short Looks about every 4 to 6 weeks depending on the time of year. In the heat of late spring, summer, and early fall, I use it every 4 weeks because I keep my hair shorter and get it cut more often. In the cooler/cold weather of fall and winter, I get it done every 6 weeks because I wear my hair a little longer and don’t cut out the curl as quickly. My gray hair is relaxed and softened as well as the black. I do not know if the gray get discolored by the process because I use a shampoo and conditioner that “silvers” gray hair to keep it from yellowing. I also shampoo only once or twice a month. Instead, I “shampoo” with a conditioner two or three times per week and use a non-greasy moisturizer daily, especially, immediately after shampooing. I only use shampoo if I have been cleaning something dusty or in the spring when the pollen is high.I would highly recommend Short Looks for fine mixed gray hair and certainly for others with fine hair of any color. I have no experience with how it performs on coarse hair.
